Set amid Colchic woodland between Kutaisi and Gelati, Motsameta commemorates the brothers David and Constantine Mkheidze, whose relics are kept here. Its church is associated with a commission by King Bagrat IV on the site of an earlier destroyed church. The brothers’ memorial remains central to the monastery’s identity.
