Ananuri village stands on the Aragvi’s right bank beside Zhinvali Reservoir, along the Georgian Military Highway. Its fortress combines religious, military and civic buildings from the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries. The settlement connects this strategic architectural landmark with the road corridor and reservoir landscape around it.
