Zugdidi’s nineteenth-century character is closely linked to the Dadiani family, former rulers of Samegrelo. The palace and botanical garden form the centre of a visit, with residential streets extending around them. The city also introduces Megrelian food traditions, including elarji and gebzhalia, before journeys towards the Black Sea or Svaneti.
