Place overview
Nekresi occupies a wooded slope near Shilda, in the Kvareli area. Its buildings span several periods: the Nativity of the Virgin basilica, Archangels Church, episcopal palace and wine cellar form a varied ensemble. A four-storey tower records its defensive role, while later paintings inside the basilica add another historical layer.
