Ikalto’s monastic foundation is associated with Zenon in the sixth century. Its Trinity, Transfiguration and All Saints churches belong to different building periods. Ruins of the medieval academy add another dimension: the educational tradition here extended from theology and philosophy to astronomy, geometry and viticulture, linking religious study with practical knowledge.
